Pedagogic Bureau

This office acts as a specialized library and as an audiovisual center for the pre-school level (2-6 years). There are many books on the pedagogy and the psychology, the technique, books for children in Arabic and French. There is also a general documentation: slides, audio and video tapes, educational games and material of job. In addition the "Bureau" proposes cards about: graphicism modern mathematics, manual works, themes and programs for the scholastic year according to the needs. The "Bureau Pédagogique" (department of the social activities) has as Principal objective to take care of the continuous training of the Tunisian animators and to obviate so to the lack of basic specific formation. During the scholastic year, a pedagogic session takes place every two months. Each session regroups forty animators for the continuous training. Pre-school animators and the staff of pedagogic organization find in our office documents permit them to work with their children. Opening times: Tuesday 14:00-18:00; Friday 14:00-18:00; Saturday 8:00-13:00 and 14:00-18:00.

 

Diocesan Library

The diocesan Library is situated at 7, Sidi Saber street (in Medina). It has the purpose to help the Christians who live in Tunisia to deepen their own faith through the reading and a scientific approach. It also proposes to make them knowing better the Country that welcomes them, its history, its religion, its monuments, its customs, its language, its literature. It would finally like to help them to have a scientific and positive look on the other religions, particularly the Islam. In such way it became progressively a library of comparative religions, ready to render service to the researchers of this discipline. The Library counts 8.000 books and regularly receives about twenty specialized magazines. More than half of books have already been computerized. Works of reference are consulted on place in order to be available for readers continually. Moreover photocopy of some books, specially those one whose rights are not reserved and which cannot be found in commerce is possible. The contribution fees is of 500 millimes to session. There is also possibility of annual subscription on 20 dinars, by term on 7 dinars, or monthly 3 dinars. The Library is open on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 15:00 to 18:00 o'clock or on appointment (tel. 71.327.174).

 

 

 

Social Activity

The service of Caritas in Tunisia dates back of the period of the Protectorate. On that time it was a section of the French "Secours Catholique" and it was taking in charge European population particularly, valued to 250.000 people. It was present in almost all the parishes. After the independence and to be able to continue its activity, Caritas becomes "social Service of the Prelature", anticipated in the" Modus Vivendi" of 1964. From this date, Caritas collaborates with the Tunisian organisms which is structured to come in help to the more uncomfortable social levels and to hold the contacts with the European charity organisms. The services of Caritas are:

· Refugees and Migrant
· in collaboration with the Tunisian Associations:

Women and children.
It exists within Caritas an office of welfare open every morning from 9:00 to 10:30 o'clock to welcome the people in difficulty. They ask, in general, a help for the job, a lodging, a taking in charge to sanitary level or a help for the bureaucratic formalities. A service exists also for the elderly people, which assures a help for the bureaucratic formalities, the collection of the pensions, the home visits and recreational activity and the spiritual support.
